Retirement of the highly skilled technical workforce required to safely operate the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site continues to accelerate as more and more Baby Boomers elect to leave the workforce. Attracting top technical talent to build the next generation workforce is expensive and difficult. Retaining that next generation workforce presents its own unique set of challenges. Four years ago, a collaboration between Executive Engineering Management and Human Resources led to the development of a unique program to attract and retain technical talent. Success of the program has exceeded expectations.
