Modernization of Tank Gauging System Leads to Greater Overall Terminal Efficiency

Vopak Deer Park has been upgrading the tank gauging measurement hardware as part of their site master planning process over the past several years. With 240+ bulk storage tanks spread over 189 acres the addition of automatic tank gauging has resulted in cost savings, greater visibility into the tank farm, and elimination of manual work processes and reduced safety issues. The integration of the tank gauging system with DeltaV and AMS has also yielded previously unexpected benefits as well as work process challenges as Vopak increases the level of automation at the Terminal.
